Life jacket designed for babies and infants weighing between 10 and 15 kg for their first adventures in water. Approved by the French sea rescue services.

This life jacket was developed to keep the baby or infant in a safe position if they fall into the water: a stable position on the back that leaves the respiratory tract free.

Description

Life jacket designed for babies and infants weighing between 10 and 15 kg for their first adventures in water. Approved by the French sea rescue services.

Designed and tested with the French lifeboat association

This jacket has been tested and approved by the French sea rescue services. Tribord and the French sea rescue services have been collaborating on the development of safety products since 2020: from the specifications to the product validation tests. This jacket has been tested in the laboratory and swimming pools.

Regulations

Designed for offshore navigation (100 N, usually less than 6 miles from shelter). Keeps baby afloat with a complete sailing outfit (jacket, trousers and boots). Refer to the regulations applicable in your country.

Jacket tested as sailing clothing

Clothing can contain a large volume of air that restricts the self-righting performance. The pyramid-shaped structure takes account of this factor to facilitate the self-righting of an unconscious person onto their back, so that their respiratory tract remains free.

Why is this jacket so voluminous?

The standard requires the jacket to self-right an unconscious kid onto their back, when wearing a swimsuit. Kids are usually clothed when on boats. Since clothes contain air, self-righting can be more difficult. To meet this requirement, we have developed a jacket that self-rights an unconscious kid (10-15 kg) onto their back with their clothing. We achieved this by working on the position and shape of the foam, which explains its volume.

A life vest that’s safe for kids and reassuring for parents

The life vest has been designed to provide a positive and reassuring experience for both parents and kid: - there is a handle on the neck to control movements - the neck fabric is soft against the skin - tests were performed with a physiotherapist to make sure that the life jacket does not restrict freedom of movement

Putting on and adjusting the product

1. Make sure that the kid’s weight matches the recommended weight on the vest (10-15 kg) and the waist size (47-60 cm) 2. Put on the vest from the side, with the buckles at the front of the body 3. Close the shoulder buckle 4. Close the hip buckle and tighten the strap 5. Close the crutch loop by passing it between the legs, then tighten the strap 6. Tighten regularly during use

How to dress with a life jacket

We recommend that you do not wear the life jacket directly against your skin, and, ideally, to wear an anti-UV t-shirt to protect the kids’ skin, which is very sensitive to UV rays, or at least a t-shirt. It will be all the more comfortable!

A life vest designed to help search operations by day and at night

Optimised position of the reflective strips that take account of the position when waiting in the water The orange colour facilitates daytime searches Whistle to raise an alert

Weight of the jacket

The jacket weighs 441 grams

This life jacket was developed to keep the baby or infant in a safe position if they fall into the water: a stable position on the back that leaves the respiratory tract free.
