You are a beginner surfer
You are learning to surf or surf only a few times a year, during your holidays or a surf trip. You stay where you can touch the bottom, in tiny waves or broken waves. You surf for the pleasure of being in the water and for the feeling you get from it. During your sessions, you often fall but you fall in waves that are not very powerful. We have designed a wide range of swimwear for you, to suit your occasional practice and your body shape.
Active at the beach!
Whether you be a surfer or enjoy bathing in the sea, you don’t want to lose your swimsuit! This is why we test all our swimsuits in the waves. Each model is designed for surfing and perfectly suits other water sports: stand-up paddle boarding, sailing, kite surfing, bathing, etc.
Body shape
Ideal for learning to surf in broken waves, stand up paddle cruising or snorkelling. With their slightly loose fit and low-rise waist, Tana boardshorts suit all body shapes. The length of these women’s bathing shorts is rather short and doesn't visually "cut" the leg, which creates a nice figure. The cord is purely aesthetic.
Stays in place in the waves: the test
We design swimsuits that promise to stay in place in the waves. To test them, we use a panel of female surfers with different body shapes who follow a test protocol in a pool at our design offices in Hendaye, southwest France. This protocol aims to reproduce the sensations experienced by surfers when being thrown around by a wave. If this test is conclusive, we go surfing in the sea to test our swimwear in real conditions.
Do you want to exchange your boardshorts?
Is the size or style not suitable for you? would you like to exchange it at your Decathlon store? No problem, just be sure not to cut off the label of the swimsuit in case you want to exchange it.

Based in Hendaye, in southwest France, OLAIAN is Decathlon's new surfing and bodyboarding brand. In our offices at the water's edge, we can design a swimsuit and then on the same day test it directly in the sea to check it stays in place in the waves.

I ordered my normal size that all my usual trousers/leggings etc are in the majority of shops and was expecting them to be a snug fit as with most water/swim wear, but these seem to run very large once in water. Please if you order consider going down a size. Or even two sizes. They were OK out of the pool, they did stay up to walk from changing room to pool, but as soon as I started to swim they were falling down with the movement of the water. They look and feel lovely and are very lightweight, I just didn’t realise that these would need to be a very very tight fit over a swimming costume if they are going to stay on you! It’s a shame the waist can’t be pulled in very tight for in the water and then loosened off for comfort once out of the water, but the drawstring is for looks only, it cannot be tightened. I will re purpose these as comfortable, light shorts for around the house in the summer and look at something tighter fitting for swimming in.
