How to use this product:

While carrying out this task, you may need: A brake pad spacer, brake cleaner and a microfibre cloth.

User tip:

Before bedding-in your brakes, make sure the conditions are right. Clean the disc brakes, and if you're installing new pads, they'll be more effective if you change the disc brakes.Wear a helmet, use a display or GPS, and pick a dry, flat road that's free of obstacles.

Advice from the team:

For the bedding-in process to work properly, alternately apply front and back brakes and then do a series of slow-downs at different intervals: Apply the brakes softly ten times at 15 km/h to slow down to 5 km/h, then repeat this at 20 km/h and lastly at 25 km/h. Make sure you go a few dozen metres without braking between each interval to keep the components properly ventilated.

Maintenance advice:

Use your brakes with caution when performing the bedding-in process:Ride on flat terrain for greater stability, and let time do its job — the whole thing can take up to 30 minutes. If you notice a shiny, rainbow-coloured area on the discs or the brakes feel less powerful, then your brake pads may be glazed.In this case, we advise you to swing by the Decathlon workshop.
