          Product description

We have designed this road, gravel and mountain bike saddle to fit both male and female cyclists.

This unisex saddle has a foam insert to keep you comfortable. Suitable for road, gravel and mountain biking, with a width of 145 mm. Closed base to protect you from splashes.

          Description

We have designed this road, gravel and mountain bike saddle to fit both male and female cyclists.

          1. TESTS CONDUCTED WITH DECATHLON SPORTSLAB

This saddle is available in two different sizes: 145 mm and 155 mm. We have conducted tests in collaboration with our research and development laboratory: Decathlon Sportslab. The goal of this study was to be able to recommend the correct saddle size based on the distance between the sit bones, for both male or female road cyclists riding several times a week.

          2. CHOOSING YOUR SADDLE WIDTH

For a sit bone distance between 90 and 120 mm, choose the 145 mm saddle. For a sit bone distance between 120 and 140 mm, choose the 155 mm saddle. If you used a more upright position on your bike (with a back angle between 45° and 60°), you can opt for the larger 155 mm saddle. This will provide greater comfort during your rides.

          3. MEASURING YOUR SIT BONE DISTANCE

Equipment required: 2 pieces of cardboard, a stool (with a flat surface), a ruler, a pen. 1. Place the two pieces of cardboard on top of each other. 2. Sit on the stool with your back straight. Next, exert force on the stool by pulling it upwards for 1 minute. 3. Stand up and identify the points where your sit bones have pushed into the cardboard. 4. Identify the centre of these two marks and draw a line connecting them.

TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR BIKE RIDE:

          - Choose a saddle that suits your back position on your bike (here, we are using a saddle with a 30° back angle) - Determine your saddle height - Adjust your saddle incline - Adjust your saddle forward or backward To make the most of your rides, wear bike shorts adapted to the length of your workout. Here are instructions for adjusting your bike: https://players.brightcove.net/3415345270001/DOHosj6Wy_default/index.html?videoId=ref:p2263569_1

          1. DETERMINING SADDLE HEIGHT (part 1)

Equipment required: a measuring tape, a book, and a pencil. Stand up, barefoot, back against a wall. Keep your feet slightly apart (around 15-20 cm max) and your heels against the wall. Look straight ahead. b. Next, place the book against the wall and slide it between your legs up to your perineum: apply a slight force to imitate the pressure of the saddle.

          1. DETERMINING SADDLE HEIGHT (part 2)

          c. Measure the distance between the top of the book and the floor, and transfer that measurement to your bike. You'll need to multiply the value you get by 0.883. (Ex: if you measure 89 cm, you'll need 89 x 0.883 = 78.6 cm. This means that the centre of your saddle to the centre of your bottom bracket should measure 78.6 cm)

          2. ADJUSTING THE SADDLE INCLINE

To do this step, adjust the incline to be flat using a bubble level that you place on the front of the saddle (from the centre of the saddle to the tip). We recommend going on a few rides to find the right saddle incline adjustment.

          3. ADJUST YOUR SADDLE FORWARD OR BACKWARD

The forward or backward distance of the saddle is very important, since it'll help you be more effective on your ride and reduce discomfort. a. Sit on your bike, holding yourself against a wall for example. b. Clip your bike shoes into the pedals and place the crank horizontally, parallel to the ground. c. The pedal axle should be aligned with the front of your knee (not too far forward or backward).
